Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

ok, so i just spoke with my case manager, and i like the indian support guys better, my case manager basically reitterated the fact that my computer was out of warranty for about 502 days. im so disappointed at HP. I need my pc, i am a student who has papers and other assignments to do.

Case manager, hahahaha yeah right. they wont even let me extend my warranty because my pc doesnt work. i know that i will do my best to give hp a bad name. i will let all of my college friend know about how i was wronged.

simply put, IF YOU WANT RELIABILITY, DONT BUY AN HP. It will just break on you outside of the warranty and they will tell, ohh well there is nothing that we can do. i dont know what to do, i have tried everything, but to no solution.

what do you guys think i should do with my pc? smash it with a sledge hammer, or throw it off a bridge. The only thing that i know is that HP is a bunch of people just trying to make their wallets and billfolds fat, will not caring about their consumers.

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

Well, I just bit the bullet after facing reality that my $1400 paperweight would never suffice as a computer again.  Last Friday, I went out and bought a new IMAC and as of now, can't believe I ever bought all the H-P pcs of past.  I spoke with a case manager last week that basically told me that HP knew there were a lot of other model numbers with faulty motherboards but did not know if they would ever do an "enhanced warranty" on them.  I just hope that this mess will come back to haunt them.

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

Add my notebook to the list of dead notebooks.

HP Pavillion DV9000
MODEL:  dv9260nr
S/N:  CNF7055MGW
P/N:  RP250UA#ABA

Purchased 8/13/2007

Died 4/13/2009

When you press the power button the screen remains blank and the computer goes into a repetitive beep cycle of:  1 Long Beep and 2 Short Beeps (very loud).

Tech support chat Snip:

...

RDEODHAR_Raghavendra : As i understnad that the video card might be defective or it is not detecting

ME: Do you have anything more than that?

RDEODHAR_Raghavendra : Please tell me your bios version ?

ME: If you can tell me how to give you that information with no display I will be happy to provide you with that information.

ME: No display information comes up at all when you try to power on this notebook

RDEODHAR_Raghavendra : If your BIOS is phoenix then this will be the issue with defective motherboard.

...

Support says it needs to be sent in or taken to a service center for service.

I purchased with an American Express so it should still be covered by their extended warranty.

[ Edited ]

Add another one to the ever increasing list.

Just had a DV9399EA come into me for repair.

Tried everything Bios update - latest driver install and nothing.

Then I came across this forum and wow what a lot of people with the same problem

The laptop is out of warranty - so it looks like I will have tell the customer that they need to buy a new one, unless they want to pay HP, which I doubt they will..

The information on here is good, will check back for new info.

I am in the UK

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

hello? hp? anyone listening?. really, at what point and time do you just step up and do the right thing by your customers? I want everyone to know that they have fixed FOR FREE laptops (even 9500 series) even though you will receive the very same motherboard/gpu combination that was faulty in the first place. I look at it this way, if hp is not going to do the right thing then you should keep sending in your laptop for repairs. most states lemon laws have provisions that stipulate that after 3 or 4 unsuccessful repair attempts that you have the right to full replacement or a refund. do not let these people treat you this way, especially in our current financial state as consumers. you can find out and use actual repair #s that have been covered at the following website google "nvidia defect" this company is profiting off of our inability to mount a real case against them because we're not organized, you can get organized at the before mentioned site. a lot of good info and a good place to talk to others having the same problems (there are hundreds).

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

Count me in.  Purchased dv9500 in Oct. 2007.  Screenless on April 15, 2009.  Had a good run (in dog years, maybe).  $3600 including docking stand.  So my shiny paperweight is ergonomical, too.  Already replaced one hard drive and a power supply a few months ago.  My small business is run completely from my laptop.  I can't afford this nonsense.  I certainly can't afford to be without it for weeks while they replace the defect with a brand new defect.

So as of 30 minutes ago,  I'm now the proud owner of a Dell.  $1500 less than this glossy stool sample and it has twice the hard drive, 50% more memory and a faster processor.

This is bad business, HP.

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

I got my laptop back yesterday. The first thing I did was pull the hard drive and run a very thorough scan, which showed no problems with the drive whatsoever. I'm going to keep it as long as it is functional, although I wouldn't mind replacing it with a faster model.

I also ran some monitoring programs only to learn that my GPU is clocked at 500mhz, while the 8600M GS is supposed to run at 700mhz.  I received a survey from HP asking me about my experience with their customer service, and I said was not satisfied with my experience, and told them why.

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I have a dv9540us laptop. I think that i have the same problem. I bought this product in 15/08/2007 and it died in 15/04/2009.The warranty was valid only for 1 year!

Problem:

My laptop display is totaly gone mad. The display reply its self 4 times vertically. Also the resulotion is not normal and i can not read everything on the screen because some part of the screen is not displayed. The screen is shifted horizontally but repeated vertically 4 times.

In bios the screen is the same. But the computer runs normally.

and i can not open vista because vista can be displayed in high resolution. Only  can run my computer in dos, bios and startup screen.

i think the problem is that the display card is gone due to overheat or something like that.

Now i am in trouble. Give my money back HP! ... :smileysad:(
