I just had my HP Pavilion dv9740 repaired for $421.00. I had their shipping box on Monday and unit was back to me on Thursday. The repiar detail listed the System Board and the Heatsink Fan were replaced. My device Manager still relects the NVidia Geoforce 8600M GS Graphics Chipset. So it looks to me like they are replacing it with the same chipset. Whether it's still defective I won't know until it craps out. There are additional costs associated withthe repair. Like backing up all your data and then reinputting the data and programs. The problem really turns into a time consuming hassle. My problem has been going on for close to 4 month now. I still have to file a claim with my credit card company.

And another one - DV9205TX. Count me in as well. As last post, no need to go into specifics. It has all been said many times over.
I reside in Australia. I haven't read too many other posts from Australia, so if anyone can be of assistance please let me know.
I have tried numerous things, but dead ends everytime.
I will say this though. Through my dealings with HP so far in trying to get some answers to this debacle, HP's customer service has been pathetic!!! Not a care in the world. Absolute disgrace!!!
LAPTOP = Pathetic!! CUSTOMER SERVICE = Pathetic x 2!!!

I got my HP DV9543cl back today, from the extended warranty fixing, they had it for 1week which isn't too bad. They didn't wipe my files which I was happy with, although I had backed everything up it, makes things easier that I don't have to restore everything.
In the documentation it said they had replaced the main board, with another, and yes I still have the Nvidia 8600M GS graphics chipset, according to system. So how long is it going to last now, that is the main question on my mind, I have another 3 months warranty now, but that is hardly going to cover a fault in 12months, perhaps I can extend the warranty again, probably with more cash, but I guess it's better than having to fork out £300 in a year... What a pi$$ take. I don't agree that this laptop is bad or pathetic in the comparison sense, it beats most laptops of it's age hands down on windows performance and 3dmark05.
I ran 3DMark05 and got 4000+ score, it heated up slightly but nothing like what it was a month before it was repaired.... so how long do I have this time?......

Thanks, Odd maybe I'll try again... (Was that within the original 12 months though?)

I own a dv9233cl that HP stated they would not cover under the 'warranty program' I went through the levels of support up to the third level of U.S. 'manager' and the most they would offer is $200 towards the repair. The reason I believe HP should cover this in whole is that they have been covering it for many others. Normally I would just say that is just the way it goes, however, HP acknowledges that they are having issues by having this 'enhanced warranty' program. If they cover one bad NVIDIA GPU, they should cover them all.
I also own a dv9543cl and have yet to have issues, however, by reading all of these comments, I am sure they are soon to come.
Come on HP, own the problem.
