Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

Sounds like you are another member of the graphics card snafoo.  Many people with HP dv9000 series have had the same problem.  Bad graohics card after about 10-18 months of use.  This calls for a new motherboard. ($350+) Keep in mind that HP will tell you that if it is no longer under warranty its your baby.  I guess the lucky ones are those who encountered these problems before the warranty died.  Good Luck with this one.

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

I have the same problem with my dv9500. I have an extended warranty, but that does not mean that HP is not responsible for the repairs. Contact HP  1-866-671-7362. The problem is the Nvidia 8m chip and HP is responsible for the repair.

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

same problem with DV9700, laptop only 1 year and 10 days old. so warranty up by 10 days and HP said tough luck. Even when known issue and other DV9000 series had similar problems. Cost of repairs $400 for motehrboard. I find this unacceptable, what department at HP can we speak with to get these models DV9500, DV9700 added to recall and warranty extended. Any advise greatly appreciated.

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

I also have the same problem.  So I called HP once again.

The man told me that the HP engineers have recently started to look into

the problem and a possible recall may happen soon.  If anything, the best

we can do is continually voice this problem as the word seems to be getting

out.

Re: hp dv9500 screen problem

Call 1-866-671-7362. This the number to qualify for a free repair. Don't call the support number. The above number is the HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement. There's hope if you contact HP using this number.
