Well everyone I have been totally unsuccessful in finding a lawyer that will take on the class action case. Does anyone have any suggestions.
I know for a quick fix I took my dv 9500 to PCW Wireless and they found out that it isnt my motherboard what's happening is the overheating is causing the chipset to seperate. It cost me about $150 + tax to get fixed but because of the overheating still occuring it only lasted 1 month.
I wish I could find someone to customize a motherboard for me in order to get this AMD out.

I have had a dv9535nr for a few years - successfully until recently. I used it for work and am now devastated. It seems to be a real hardware/software issue. Please keep us advised.

I've got the same problem, screen was like a flower of pixels until i closed the lid, then it was gone.
So I hooked up an external monitor and ive got perfect picture. At first i thought i had the same problem all of you have here but it seems its just a cable-breach in the cable leading to my flatscreen.

Hi Folks,
Regarding Siren's post on a LCD cable issue, I have also seen some questionable issues recently with the wiring feeding the 17.3" TFT display on a dv7-3067. The wiring harness is made up using a bundle of very small stranded wires, each not much bigger than a human hair, which are all sandwiched flat between two pieces of tape. As I was tracing down what appeared to be an intermittent ground, I was surprised to see that the ten ground wires coming from the Samsung TFT display connector were all just hand-spliced without solder inside this bundle, where only one small wire was used to complete the ground path.
Based on my experience and observations here, I'm surprised more people are not complaining about noisy display problems. As a few of the machines in this series are already prone to having display and heat issues, ground and power noise can also destabilize the switching supplies on the motherboard, resulting in unpredictable errors and additional heat generation.
Good Luck Troubleshooting!

I don't have the fingerprint reader. I think it is an NVIDIA issue with the driver. I can sometimes get it running with W7. I ran W7 for a long time with no issues until I loaded a detailed AutoCAD drawing and the display went crazy. I wiped the drive and installed the original VISTA, went through all the updates and the issue was not relieved. I then wiped again and installed W7 and have got some useability; but it will never be a reliable engineering laptop. I have also seen some requests to replace the battery; but have not gone down that path. My unit is a dv9535nr with Intel and NVIDIA

A day lat and a dollar short. ![]()
My dv9500 went sour with no boot... I power up and the fan starts hd access light comes on then all goes off and then start a cycle of repeating this. I would be happy to repair my own if I knew what to replace and the question, is this the same issue with the nv g84 and nv g86 being bad?

Hi bwebbman,
Looks a lot like a video accelerator thermal problem I ran into back in April.
Check out my post "Re: HP Pavilion dv7 power adapter cable 04-22-2012 08:21 AM" for more info.
Unless you have access to a reflow oven to rework and replace the FBGA devices on these boards, it's going to be cheaper and less time consuming to buy a recycled working motherboard off of Ebay or just get a new machine on sale.
Good Luck!
