hp laptop dv550se video screen problem

My laptop's screen suddenly has stopped working correctly... The image i'm seeing right now takes up the top left portion of the screen.  No noticeable physical abuse happened.. screen is not cracked. Here are some of the things happening (all related to the screen problem) 

 

1. I'm able to see the screen when windows is running

2. I'm not able to see anything until windows login screen comes up

3. the top of the screen is mirrored at the bottom of the screen.

4. 1/4 of the screen is black. (column from top to bottom is black on right side of screen) 

 

I have tried installing all the drivers on the HP site, windows site etc...  None of my efforts are fixing my screen...  any help is GREATLY appreciated Thank you, Nick
