Is the line at the very top of the monitor!  If so I have the exact thing.  My laptop isnt even 12 months old!  My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6 AMD A8 with Radeon dual graphics.

Re: i got a horizontal line on my monitor and it wont go away

I have a Pavilion dv6 that I bought in 2010 and is now out of warranty.  DO NOT let HP screw you over like they did me on this.  The last case mgr I talked to admitted that I have a bad motherboard or something....that must be his technical term for a lemon.  I sent it in to them 3 times in 12 months.  They replaced the screen 3 times and the keyboard once and the optical drive once.  I was without my computer for 6 weeks.  They don't care.  I spent endless hours on the phone, on IM chat and talking to a technician in California while he had my computer.

They refused to replace it from the start.  They will lie to you about what they will promise to do for you until it is out of warranty.  I know it sucks to give up your computer, believe me.  But, start making them work on it now so that hopefully, they can find something or replace it, or replace the motherboard before your warranty runs out.

My screen is now black and I use an external monitor through my HDMI port.  It sucks because this is supposed to be a portable laptop.  I will buy a Toshiba again next time.

Good Luck!

I have a Pavilion dv6 that I bought in 2010 and is now out of warranty.  This horizontal line will conttinue to spread down the entire screen.  Then, it starts messing up the entire screen.

Re: i got a horizontal line on my monitor and it wont go away

i downloaded a video/graphic driver from ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54001-54500/sp54362.exe  and installed it last night. The flickering line seems to go away.

During the installation there was a cmd window popped up and stayed there for a very long time... I actually started something else and forgot about it, and suddenly an ATI driver install program started.

when the installation finish, my laptop was doing something else on my laptop seemed to be OK.
