iam having problems downloading adobe flash player and getting videos to play

youtube videos wont play it said i need to downlaod adobe flash player. i took out the old flash player and download the new one but still unable to watch movies. it looks like the flash player is in the computer but wont work. i have a windows 7 hp pavillion g series laptop
