Hi NeedTimeOut,

 

Welcome to the Forum!

 

Try this for Windows 7:

 

Control Panel > icon view > Power Options >

CLICK  "Choose what closing the lid does"

The drop down menus allow you to Select ... You may select "Do Nothing" when the lid is closed.
