media smart - no icons!!!

I get a tv signal but most times I do not get any "icons" to enlarge the image or to record the image. I have tried everything I can think of. Once in a while the "icons" appear to enable me to enlarge the signal or to record the signal but it is infrequent and not predictable. I am running windows 7. Any help would be appreciated

What you are asking for help with  is not clear at all. Please describe it again in another fashion and consider using screenshots to show what you mean.

Thanks for your reply. The small symbol that allows you to enlarge the image to full screen nor the symbols that allow you to record or have cc does not appear except rarely. The symbols when they do appear, are on the small tv signal on the right side of the screen. Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes, I run Media Smart TV on my computer using my HP tuner. I receive the tv signal in a small window on the right side of the program. Infrequently I do get the enlargement symbol or the recording symbols. They appear or don't appear for no apparent reason. I do not open the program any differently. I have attempted to resolve the problem using HP help, but the people in India have been working on a resolution for over six months! They tell me to keep waiting for a resolution. I'm sure they are not trying to do anything anymore. I would send you a screen shot, but I don't know how I could do it. I am using SP46032.exe; 36.228 KB and Media Smart update.exe; 161.814 KB with Win 7 64 bit. Thanks for your help. I'm going bald from pulling out my hair!! ron

Thank you! Now I understand what you mean.  

I would consider starting over. Uninstall the application from Control panel. Install it again and see how it goes. The problem is that it could be a combination of the operating system updates of your video card driver updates to the tv tuner hardware driver updates and more causing the issue on your particular PC's motherboard.

Did this begin happening after something that you changed in your PC's configuration in terms of software or hardware? 

That is normally the case when software that was working begins to behave strangely.

I am certain that you couldn't possibly be alone in having this issue.

Thanks for your response. Finally, some possible answers! This started happening from the very beginning. I had asked some time ago if there was any way to enlarge the image. I never got an answer. Only last week did the enlargement and recording "icons" appear. Until that time I thought I had to look at a small window!

Before I uninstall anything, I want to be clear. I should uninstall Smart Media, then reinstall Smart Media and the update? Should I also uninstall the tv hybrid tuner?

HI,

I would start from scratch. Uninstall the software and the hardware. Be sure that you have access to the software before you do anything..

install the hardware followed by the software.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I checked the program before installing the Smart Media update. It appears to be working perfectly, so I will not install the update unless I have problems in the future. It finally works properly. Thanks again for your assistance. ron
