What specific model laptop is this? Did it work before and recently stopped working? If you could give me more details I would be able to assist  you better.

Well what is the problem? Are you receiving any error message messages? Also what operating system are you using?

I'm using Vista - I don't get an error message at all, it's simply not recognizing the system even has a webcam anymore, very strange and I don't even know how to check it as I've explored Control Panel and don't know where to go. It's not under programs & features as far as I can see. How do I test it?

This document should resolve the issue for you: Fixing Webcam Problems in Windows Vista  It will walk you through all the steps required to get your WebCam back up and running in Vista. Let me know if you have any issues or if you cant get it working.
