Notebooks rely heavily on the cooling fan to keep it cool. When is the last time you cleaned out the fan area? Use a can of compressed air in the reverse direction of the normal flow of air with the machine off to clear out the dust/lint/hair that accumulates on the inside of the heatsink near the fan blades. I would buy and use a notebook cooling pad too. If this is not enough, the next step is to put new and better thermal paste like Artic Silver 5 or 14, on the CPU and video chip along with a copper shim to replace the thermal pad. Someone will have to dissemble the notebook to do that.
