my dvd drive will not play a dvd or a cd this computer is 11 months old

I have a Pavilion dv7-4285dx  with windows 7 64-bit  the DVD drive will not play a dvd or a cd it doesn't work at all. This computer is only 11 months old.

thank you for your help, when I tried to test the optical devise it said it can not find any optical device on my computer.it is like it doesn't see it at all so it said it could not do the test. Do I need to download some kind of a driver or something?

Please try the Web link given below might help you to fix your issue.

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Or if your are comfortable reseating the drive by yourself just reseat it and have it checked or you need to replace the drive.

If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know.
