my laptop screen goes dark then it goes back on in a while

I have a hp G56-16NR laptop like the title says (i was probly gonna metion it) the screen goes doark its a very faint but you can see it but after a while it happens.Only happens when it overheats strange isn't it? i also play games on it ex portal left 4 dead 2  tf2 super meat meat boy ect hope it helps
