SOLVED - HP WEBCAM NOT DETECTED

I have been battling with my HP webcam - after replacing the hard drive of my laptop, the webcam was not being detected, despite downloading Youcam, drivers and a whole lot of other things. Today I was checking my computer performance and went to control panel "performance information and tools". Noticed that it said there that new hardware had been detected. Told it to "update score" which it duly did and the notice about new hardware disappeared and my HP webcam is now working perfectly. Cannot believe that it was something so simple, so just had to share.

Hope this assists some of you who are battling with the same problem.

Re: webcam not detected.

smacking the laptop is nonsense... (no offence really) .... but all i ended up doing was scratch the lid. :smileyfrustrated:  seriously... is HP staff just ignoring our complaints cuz they themselves don't know the problem???

i tried everything: smacking, control panel, rebooting, formatting, etc. but nothing

Re: SOLVED - HP WEBCAM NOT DETECTED

Sorry about that - I must assume that this will work for people who have put in new hard drives or reformatted computers. However, as I saw someone say some time ago, that perhaps the webcam has become disconnected somehow in your hardware and need to have it reconnected. I am not a boffin on computers in this regard, but hope that you do come right with it. Look forward to hearing the solution when you get it.

Re: SOLVED - HP WEBCAM NOT DETECTED

I'm afraid of hitting my laptop....thats how I broke the old one....

I tried the whole reassessing of my score deal, but it didn't work. I also didn't replace my hard drive though. My deal is the webcam stopped working a few days ago sometime after a windows update.

Did a system restore to before the update and it's still not working.

Please HP, find out why your webcams stop working.

Re: SOLVED - HP WEBCAM NOT DETECTED

I don't understand - what then is HP doing or what have they done to assist you abdul_barca10? I do know just how frustrating these things are!! My great frustration at the moment is that I am battling to watch videos - streaming/buffering (or whatever you call it) problems - get this little streaming circle every 5 secs or so!!

Anyway abdul_barca10, when you do get sorted out would really be interested to know what exactly was causing all your frustrations with the webcam.

SOLUTION IF YOU HAVE INSERTED A NEW HARD DRIVE / REFORMATTED HARD DRIVE - HP WEBCAM NOT DETECTED

Hi missrachelwf

Sorry, I discovered that my solution below only works if one has inserted a new hard drive/formatted hard drive.

Herewith a copy of my previous post :
