2740p MultiTouch Not Working

I installed the Wacom prerelease driver which gave me the pen input, but I cannot figure out which HP software/driver to get the multitouch display working.  Please help!

I'm running WIndows 7 x64 Ultimate - a clean install.

Re: 2740p MultiTouch Not Working

I have a 2740p Win 7 64bit. Spent two nights struggling with the same problem. Searched and found out lots of other tablet pcs have half-baked driver problems as well...

I tried many things and eventually I got pen pressure sensitivity in Photoshop (not just sticky notes) AND touch AND it continues working after it comes out of sleep...some of the things I did:

First I used two Bamboo drivers (PenTablet_520_7a.exe rebooted, then PenTablet_521-6a) as explained in this thread:

http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2732

Pen pressure worked! - but no touch.

Then I installed a Fujitsu tablet driver and rebooted:

http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/download/ShowDescription.asp?SoftwareGUID=3DCECDE5-CC85-46C7-809F-0DB2...

then a combination of the drivers put together by "KidDynamic" on this thread:

http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/lenovo-ibm/22915-x200-touch-screen-wacom-tablet-driver-conficts-4.ht...

the file was posted here: http://www.imasecretagent.com/temp/WacomFujitsu_compositeMultitouchWintab_drivers.zip

At first my line was jagged... SO I redid some of the step and it went away - but I took too many steps to remember... BUT the info on those threads helped me a ton. I wouldn't be surprised if some other problem surfaces. HP, please make a fully functional driver for the 2740p. I love my computer NOW that it's doing what I expected... crossing my fingers that it doesn't go jaggy or senseless again.

Re: 2740p MultiTouch Not Working

It's working for me now - make sure you run the "Wacom Digitizer Driver" under "Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices" section on downloads - it appeared a few days after I had this problem.  I had HP ship me the restore DVD set, which had that driver on there, and a few days later the same driver appeared on the website.

Are you saying that you have pressure sensitive penning and multitouch working with the Wacom Digitizer Driver from HP's driver website?

Re: 2740p MultiTouch Not Working

This is a copy of a post I made on the Wacom forums.  Thought it might be helpful, as it doesn't require any hacking or batch files:

There is a much simpler solution to enable pressure sensitivity in programs like Photoshop and as far as I can tell still keep all the touch functionality of your Tablet PC in Windows 7:

This works with an HP 2740p.

1. Download your Tablet PC manufacturer's Wacom Digitizer Driver.
In my case: HP EliteBook 2740p Tablet PC- Wacom Digitizer Driver - HP Business Support Center

2. Download the Penabled driver that is located on Wacom's European FTP:

ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/WINDOWS/Penabled_522-11.zip

This driver does not yet appear on Wacom's official support page, it's probably an alpha or beta driver so use at your own risk.

NOTE: I did a fresh install on Windows 7 64bit and installed the drivers in the order above.
This method has the added bonus of providing you with the Pen Tablet Control panel which allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the input.

Re: 2740p MultiTouch Not Working

I've been having the same issues with an out of the box Elitebook 2740p with Windows 7 Pro 32bit installed on it.  Pen works but touch/multi touch does not work.

I installed the HP driver from their support page and no help.

I installed the Penabled wacom driver from ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/WINDOWS/Penabled_522-11.zip

and after the restart, Touch Settings in Control Panel appeared, system properties showed Pen input and two touch points available but touch still does not work.  I tried opening the Touch Settings control panela and 2 message boxes appeared that state: "A supported touchscreen was not found on the system."

Any updates as far as a driver that actually fixes this issue?

New driver just posted on HP's website today, dated June 23, 2010. Still no luck with it though.

Re: 2740p MultiTouch Not Working

animation_nerd, thanks so much for posting this! It solved my problem of not being able to get pressure working on my tx2500z, with Windows 7 64bit. For me, I originally had it working by installing drivers from the Wacom site (5.08 version), but since a windows update recomended some more recent drivers and I upgraded, I haven't been able to get pressure to work since (in spite of uninstalling and reinstalling drivers many times).

The drivers at the link you gave worked for me! ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/WINDOWS/Penabled_522-11.zip

The difference I've noticed is that the pen no longer has calibration at all. It used to be that my pen had calibration except on the apps that used the pressure. Now I've noticed that there is no calibration whatsoever when using the pen. Not a big problem, because this way it's more consistent. The touch still has calibration though.

I'm not sure how you found, it but thanks for posting!

Re: 2740p MultiTouch Not Working

Okay, the rest of this thread covers pen pressure and so forth- but we kind of lost the multi-touch part of the thread.

I found the solution to losing multi-touch after sleep-mode here on TabletPCReview, thanks, guys!

Turns out there is a Windows 7/Windows 2008 R2 Hotfix that solves the issue; why am I not surprised?  Thanks, Microsoft.:smileymad:
