Accepted Solution

Do I have seperate video memory or a seperate video card in my laptop?

I have the pavilion dv7-6135dx.

When I look up my model number on HP's site it says: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6490m

When I go into my display settings it says: Mobile Intel HD graphics 3000

Total Available graphics memory 5093 MB

Dedicated Video Memory 1280 MB

System Video Memory 0 MB

Shared System Memory 3813 Mb

What does all this mean?

Do I have a seperate video card or is it seperate video card mounted to the mother board?

Best Buy said I could upgrade the video memory from 6 MB to 8 or 12MB I think. How can I find out for sure.

HP doesnt say anything on the site about max video memory.

Thanks :smileyhappy:

Re: Do I have seperate video memory or a seperate video card in my laptop?

Hi,

That simply means your machine has TWO video "cards" one is Intel called onboard video card and another one called dedicated video card.

Please read more from this:

Re: Do I have seperate video memory or a seperate video card in my laptop?

That thread really didnt help. It was kind of all over the place and didnt relate in my mind, but maybe I just dont understand how it applies. I wish HP put more info about their pc's on the website. I mean, Really? They dont even tell me what the video ram is upgradeable to. :smileysad:
