I got Hp G62   ES version with intel  HD+ati m R 5470 (1GB ) Same problem screen freeze right after win7 boot animation for  like one  min and black screen ...sometimes  i even get  blue screen of death and auto restart.

Looks like the chipset is death (maybe from overheating)...anyway in safe boot-task manager, turn off the adaptor with problems and start the laptop without power adaptor (savepower mode).

2. HP sucks and this was the  last thing with 'HP' crap on it that ill  ever buy in my life.

Search on google/youtube "HP DV blackscreen reflow fix" so u can see how bad this HP latops are builded and how fix them 😞

Well, I was able to keep this [DV7-4171us] laptop running right for about a couple days then it started acting up again with a blank/black screen when it boots into windows. It seems to happen with the original drivers from a recovery DVD I just got in, or updated drivers when windows searches for the best driver. AMD Catalyst isn't installed, so it's the drivers conflicting I assume. Bummer, I was suppost to have this one ready today. I can give it back to the customer however, you can't play movies with it without freezing, or choppy video & forget watching concerts with a lot of movement.

One thing I do know for sure is when I had this laptop running right, the temperature had dropped from 57-63 degrees celsius to under 26 degrees celsius. It went back up to 60-63 degrees cesius after the graphic's issue returned. Strange & sounds like at the very least part of the over heating problem.

The 2 display adapters:

AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
