Re: HDX18 & Nvidia drivers

The Nvidia site actually refers you back to the manufacturer. Just go to the driver section and select your particular model. You'll find all the drivers for your system there including the video driver.

reply:

As I don't play the latest games, I like HP's 179.04 drivers because they don't downclock to 169MHz core/100 MHz memory (i.e. the "2D clock"), resulting in a smoother Vista Aero experience. On my HDX18, the 179.04 drivers only downclock to 275MHz core/200 MHz memory (i.e. "low power 3D").

The 185.85 nvidia drivers do downclock to the 2D level, resulting in a slightly jerkier Aero experience. However, the nVidia 185.85 drivers do upclock to full 3D (i.e. 500MHz core, 400MHz memory) clocks faster than do the 179.04 drivers.

Kind regards
mcdill the pig is offline  so i guess they can be used safely? Im still confused!!

Re: HDX18 & Nvidia drivers

Hi,

Yes You can use it without any problems, but there is one problem. If GPU of Your graphic card will corrupt and Nvidia drivers will be installed HP may not  replace Your motherboard for free. Even if You will be still on warranty. HP policy looks like that. You were using not our drivers designed for Your model so this is Your problem. Choice is Yours.

Re: HDX18 & Nvidia drivers

Don't try to install nVidia drivers from nVidia directly.  They won't work cleanly.  At least on the HDX18 you will notice snow start to develop in the picture.  It scared the hell out of me when I did it.  It appears that the hardware (at least for the 9600m gt) is a custom build, and will not function properly with the generic driver updates on the main nVidia site.  Word of warning.
