I have a HP Pavilion dm3 Notebook PC with a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit operating system.

Basically, when I go into DXDIAG it highlights that my DirectDraw Acceleration is 'disabled', Direct 3D is 'Partially' and AGP Texture is 'Not Available. It is running the diagnostic on a 32 unicode but when I run it on the 64-bit everything seems normal. I cannot enable or troubleshoot them. It states that 'there are no problems found'. Because of this, I'm having loads of problems as games won't run due to the fact that they lack 3D support and some are just operating in a windowed mode and cannot be made fullscreen.

I tried to update the graphics drivers for my 3D card from HP but there is a message stating that I have an unsupported operating system!?? I'm 99.9% sure I have chosen the correct driver as I have checked in 'Control Panel' 'System' and I also know my Graphics Card which is a Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family.

I have a strong feeling that it is the latest version of DirectX (11). I got my computer in June 2010 so I'm not entirely sure when it was released? Is there anyway of downgrading to an earlier (better) version?

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Re: HELP!!!

I cannot download it:

'550 /pub/softpaq/sp46501-47000/sp46586.exe: Permission denied'

I've pasted my DxDiag specs below and I'm almost 99% sure I've got the latest driver update. I've been doing a bit of research and supposedly DirectX 11 is incompatible with this particular graphics card. The Intel people told me to get rid of the DirectX updates and downgrade to Direct X10 but so far that has been an absolute NIGHTMARE. Would it be better just to get a new graphics card, one which is compatible with the latest version of DirectX?

Re: HELP!!!

I'm able to download drivers fine from above link and it must be an issue with your internet connection or some security software installed on your computer.

Re: HELP!!!

I was eventually able to download the file however I already downloaded the file from Intel. My specs also show the drivers as being fully updated.

The problem is definitely with DirectX and Microsoft. I'm really annoyed how they see DX11 as an 'update' when it causes instability on your machine! They should have given you some sort of warning or at least a precursor analysis that showed incompatibility. The Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family cannot run on DirectX 11.

Intel's solution is that I uninstall DirectX 11 to the previous version 10. I'm having difficulties doing that as I don't have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit DVD as HP pre-installed it on this machine . Therefore I'm wondering whether it would just be easier to buy a cheap new graphics card which is DirectX 11 compatible?
