I recently received a new laptop at work (a few of us have) and we are all having the same issue with this laptop. The function keys F8 and F9, which are labeled to control screen brightness, are not working. I have searched many forums and I cannot find a fix.

Product Name: HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1

Product Number: 2CE4140876#ABA

Windows Operating System: Windows 7 Enterprise, 64-bit

Can anyone help us? The screens are so dim it's hard to see the content on them.

Thanks in advance.

Angie

Hi mplsmaven,

Welcome to the  HP forum!

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since your Elitebook Folio  is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial/Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE
The support page for your product may be helpful in the meantime: HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 Notebook PC

I hope this helps.

Unfortunately we have the same issue ...

The internet is full of postings looking for help but the "commercial" website (slow like a 56k modem) is of absolutely NO help of all ... very, very frustrating.

Thanks for the link, it should be helpful for anyone else coming across our postings crying for help previously 🙂

I have installed many of these drivers that are listed on the HP website in conjunction with this laptop. So I would recommend doing quite a few. Especially the trackpad one. That helped immensely.

I will say that my ESC key on the laptop keyboard now opens an HP system dialog box to provide me information about my laptop rather than what the normal ESC function would be in whatever program I am working in. So that's been fun.

Hi @NOISE511.

Thank you for your query.

Although commercial products are outside of my support area, here is a link to the support page for the HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 Notebook PC.

I hope this helps!
