HP G62-253TU Notebook PC Graphic card upgrade

Hi..I just recd a HP G62-253TU Notebook PC as a gift from a friend. Although I like most of the technical specifications but when I tried playing PC games on it, I recd errors saying that the laptop's graphic card is not good enough to handle the graphics.

I am running Windows 7 on my laptop and I checked the Performance Information using the System properties option in MY Computer. There I check the Rating of my system and found that although the subscore for the processor, memory is 6.2 but for Graphics and Gaming Graphics it is mere 1.0. I guess this means that this model laptop has very basic level graphic card suitable for handling basic VGA only.

Please advise if there is any way to improve performance.  I am also considering upgrading the Graphic card but I dont know whether this is possible.

Please advise

Re: HP G62-253TU Notebook PC Graphic card upgrade

Hi,

Try installing the latest graphics driver on the link below.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48280.exe

Restart the PC after installing this and re-run the performance test to see if the graphics score has improved.

Best wishes,

Re: HP G62-253TU Notebook PC Graphic card upgrade

Hi,

I would suggest reinstalling this driver as the score you note for the graphics performance is well below what it should be for the adapter you have - the driver may not be properly installed.  Download the file I gave in my previous post and save it to your Desktop.  When the download has completed, right click the installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When complete, reboot the notebook and go to Performance information and Tools and re-run the assesment.

Let me know how you get on.

Regards,

Re: HP G62-253TU Notebook PC Graphic card upgrade

Hi..I downloaded the file and reinstalled. ..It didnt work out then.

But then I formatted my notebook and reinstalled Windows 7. and reloaded all the drivers.  Performance is top notch now..the lowest subscore is 4.3 for graphics and 5.0 for Gaming graphics.

thnx a lot

Re: HP G62-253TU Notebook PC Graphic card upgrade

Hi,

That sounds much more like the score you could expect from the graphics chip you have.  I'm glad you got it sorted out.

Best wishes,

Re: HP G62-253TU Notebook PC Graphic card upgrade

Hi, good day.

You were having that rating score because your processor (Intel i3-350M) has built in graphics integration, it functions as a normal graphic card, for 2D, and make your battery last for much longer than the "normal" one.

The problem is, you can´t use it for 3D normal gaming, since it has no power to run it.

You can interchange them, just go to the CCC and ther you have the option..

Remember that you need to have installed the ATI controller, and the Intel.

Best regards.

Hi, I was wondering about upgrading the graphics myself for the same reason; what is the CCC you mention? And is it possible to physically upgrade the graphics?

Thank you!
