HP Pavilion Dv5 Screen Compatibility

[ Edited ]

I was wondering if I would be able to replace the screen on my HP Pavilion Dv5-1125nr with the one from my HP Pavilion Dv5-1002nr model?

Recently the display on my laptop has gone out. The screen will be on for a little bit and then the backlight will go out but image will still be on screen. Thinking this was an inverter problem i ordered a new one and installed it with the same results. Computer works with external projector so I believe the LEDs are bad. I have been using the computer for over a year and hardly turn it off. Computer tends to overheat like most HPs.

Seeing as the screen on the HP Pavilion Dv5-1002nr works fine it would be great to know if I could just switch it over.

PS: I'm guessing it would be alright to switch them out but some reassurance would be nice. Here are the laptop stat pages:

Re: HP Pavilion Dv5 Screen Compatibility

They should be the same and if you look at the dv5-1100 series and dv5-1000 series, they are exactly the same.

When you open up your machine, make sure that you are statically discharged.

If you have never taken apart you laptop the HP Media Services Library is indispensable.
