Presario V2000 AMD Turion video driver for XP

Hi,

I am installing Win XP on my old Presario V2000. Everything has gone well, but I cannot find video driver. Windows Update does not give anything and neither does your own support. Some pay 10 bucks sites are offering something, but I am not going to pay anything. So, I need video driver for following V2000:

Compaq Presario V2000

AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile Technology ML-28

Memory 512MB

2005 or 2006 model

Video has 128MB of memory. Driver should support widescreen resolution.

I will dig more info if you need that. Thanks!

Re: Presario V2000 AMD Turion video driver for XP

Hi:

Please go to the device manager and click on the VGA adapter needing drivers.

Then click on the Details tab.

Post the top string of characters you see there.

Those will identify the model of the display adapter in your notebook and I will try and find the drivers for it.

All that is listed on any V2000 page I could find were drivers for the Intel video.

Yours will either be an AMD video adapter or a nVidia video adapter.

Re: Presario V2000 AMD Turion video driver for XP

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, that isn't enough info for me to find the right driver. I can take guesses but I don't like to do that.

In order to be able to find the hardware ID, you need to have XP SP2 or newer installed.

If you don't have that update, please install it from the direct download below.

It is not just for network installations.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28

After you install it, when you click on the ATI Moblity Radeon video adapter and then you click on the Details tab, you will find a hardware ID that is arranged somewhat like this.

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5A62&SUBSYS_FF001179&REV_00

That is what I need and once you can find that, I will be able to post the link to the driver you need.

If you want to take a chance that this is the driver you need, go ahead but if it doesn't work, I will definitely need the hardware ID's for the device.

Dear Paul,

Please see Hardware ID below.

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5955&SUBSYS_3091103C&REV_00

I will go to sleep now, because I write from Finland :smileywink: I will come back to this matter later tomorrow.

Yours,
