The brightness level of the screen keeps on changing randomly. I have checked various power management settings but it doesn't help.

Hi:

There is a feature in W8.1 called adaptive brightness.

If you don't like the screen brightness fluctuation, you can disable that setting.

See this link for where to change that setting.

Please update the latest BIOS update (Version F.33 A) for your notebook from the following hp website:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=in&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=7407...

Also update the latest graphic driver, from the above link.

This should help prevent any fluctuations in the brightness level.

Apart from this you can run a series of test using the built in diagnoistic tool (HPSA - HP Support Assistant) to check if there is any hardware issue with your notebook. Make sure that there is no power fluctuation which might be causing the display to change, and also you can just boot into the BIOS screen and check for a while if you see any change in display brightness on that screen.

Hope this helps.
