The beta drivers might work, but does the switching between the Intel Graphics and AMD work as well?
What Intel graphics driver do you use?

Hello Mate.

I need your help... like you, I have a Pavilion Laptop with an ATI 6770m video card.

But I did screw it the GPU Bios, so i can't use it anymore, i'm just working with the intel One.

So I want to ask you if you can send me a copy of your GPU Bios.

If yes, there are several ways, but the secure one is using GPU-Z located in this link, http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2360/techpowerup-gpu-z-v0-7-8/

using this tool, easily you can choose the proper GPU at the bottom of the tool window, and just in front of the bios information it collects, is the download button.

So if you please download it and share it with me, I’ll really appreciate that.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards.

Hi, everyone.

How is it going? I have installed win 8.1 x64 on my dv6-6b56er. I have radeon 6770m and Intel HD 3000 graphics. Drivers from the "drivers directory" on HP web-site are installed well, but "Switchable graphics" option on the Desktop-right click menu doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any reply!

Hmm... that's strange. Probably  you are doing something wrong. If it's not that, then listen to this - I posted elsewhere that on Win 8.1 x64 the drivers for my AMD Radeon HD 6770m given from HP for my HP Pavilion dv7-6b76eo do not work either. Those drivers are sp59850. Instead what works for me is 12-10_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql_net4 for 6700m. BTW those exact same drivers worl also for Win 7 x64.

Here are the download links for the 12-10_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql_net4 for 6700M:

For 32 bit: http://www2.ati.com/Drivers/mobile/12-10_mobility_vista_win7_win8_32_dd_ccc_whql_net4.exe

For 64 bit: http://www2.ati.com/Drivers/mobile/12-10_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql_net4.exe

This is the source for those drivers

Hope it helps! Let me know if it does! :smileyhappy:

try also turning on and off PowerPlay and then see what results you get when benchmarking with Futuremark's 3DMark. Try benchmarking when PowerPlay is on and then when it is off...  the result which is higher will show you how your driver performs better - with or without PowerPlay.

Hope that helps you! 🙂

Thank you for your quick reply!

I've got one question. I need to install only ATI drivers, not Intel ones? What option I need to choose in BIOS (Dynamic of Fixed graphics?).

HP Recommended

In my case my gpu wouldn't accept the separate Intel drivers. Instead, the intel drivers were installed as part of the AMD drivers. As far as I recall, the intel drivers are included in the AMD driver pack too. However, do experiment! Try installing the Intel ones first and then the AMD ... maybe it works in your case. Every PC is different.

As to the BIOS options ... it is up to you. Choose one options and see its implications in the desktop environment and then choose the other options and see its implications in the desktop environment, too. It speaks for itself - Dynamic switches automatically from the AMD gpu to Intel when you go from AC power supply to battery, whereas Fixed is fixed - it requires user input to change from the AMD GPU to the Intel one and vice versa, regardless of you power source. As I know, this is the main difference. Besides it, there is also a slight difference in the Catalyst Control Center GUI.

Did the 12.10 drivers work for you? They worked for me, too. But as of recently the proper HP drivers for my notebook started working well too, so I am with them now. I advise you to do the same and test every once in a while if the designated HP drivers work or not. It's always a better idea to use them instead of the 12.10 drivers I liked you to, but ... if the designated HP drivers do not work for you then I hope the 12.10 do.

After all, this topic helped me: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/GUIDE-Update-AMD-Mobility-Radeon-drivers-to-...

I've installed driver from that site from the bottom of the message: http://leshcatlabs.net/. Now I have really switcheable graphics with new driver from the net, not manufacturer.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. You screenshots are not visible. Try to reupload em cos they might help someone .. one day.

Maybe the site moderators or admins are still in the process of approving them or maybe they've already decided that they are not allowed and you have to tweak the screenshots a bit in order to have them published here. Most likely it is some legal issues. U cant have serial # and stuff like that in the images you upload.
