Lets test it with the simple way.
1. While using AC power, adjust the brightness up to maximum level, use Fn + F8
2. Remove AC power, adjust the brightness to the minimum level, use Fn + F7
3. Connect again AC power, see if the brightness will change.

I understand you would like to know how to adjust the brightness on your HP laptop. I would like to help you with this but require a little more information, can you please let me know the exact Model number of your notebook.

Thank you for the requested information! I have looked in the user guides and manuals on how to brighten the screen on your G60 121WM. On your notebook keyboard there are special shortcut keys, in order to increase the brightness please push the shortcut. In order to decrease the brightness, select the shortcut key.
