Re: screen goes black when trying to watch youtube videos

 Hi,

Try the following.

First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Desktop.

Flash Player Uninstaller.

When the download has completed, close all browser windows and run the uninstaller.  After this has completed, restart the notebook.

Next, download and install Firefox and then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash.  Note: You may want to deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before downloading.

Close all browser windows before running the Flash installer.

Launch Firefox and see if the videos play Ok - if they do, close Firefox, open Internet Explorer and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart Internet Explorer.

Regards,

Hi,

Still doesn't work, now the video and sound will play for about 2 secs then the screen goes white with verticle stripes. It also freezers the computer totally

Hi, thanks for your help, but this is how I fixed it. Hope this helps others

Instead, do this: go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash and RIGHT CLICK on the logo that is trying to load. THEN: navigate down to 'settings', click on it, and you should have the choice: "disable hardware acceleration". NOTE: If you do NOT have this choice, quickly study the icons at the bottom: on MY display, the left-most was an icon that resembled a video monitor: click on that and you WILL be given the opportunity to "disable hardware acceleration".

It works, if you can get it done before you get a BSOD! AND, you don't have to take your computer's life in your hands by updating your video drivers. I really really don't recommend doing that!

Million thanks. And I did try so hard to update my video drivers which didn't actually solve the problem.
One thing though, after disabling hardware acceleration, is it alright? It won't cause any other problems?
