why does the computer screen go blank when i plug my hdmi cord in?

It wasn't doing that before, and then I clicked on "digital t.v." on my Intel HD graphics icon and my computer screen went blank.  I can't figure out how to undo it.  I have a Pavilion dv7-6b55dx running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Hi,

Do you get video output to the connected device?  If you do, try pressing f4, use the arrow keys to select 'Duplicate' and hit enter.

Re: why does the computer screen go blank when i plug my hdmi cord in?

That was a great idea and it seemed like it would work -- but it didn't.  Yes, I am getting the video output to the t.v., and I can see my computer screen right up until the moment that I plug the HDMI cord in.  Then it goes blank, and switches to the t.v.  I tried the duplicate option on F4 as well as the extend option.  The bummer is that it was working fine with visuals on both screens until I clicked on something on my Intel graphics icon that said "digital t.v.".  Now, there is no "digital t.v." option under that same icon to disable/unclick.  Any other ideas?  Thanks for your help.

Got it!  Live Chat with Intel Graphics and it turned out the reason I wasn't getting a dual-option was because the tv wasn't plugged in (which of course was making my computer screen go black).  I had to plug it in anyway and make all the changes using the tv screen which was a bit tricky, but worked!
