Battlefield 3 Issue

[ Edited ]

Hello there!

I have a pavilion dv7 6199 with Windows 7 64-bit , 8 GB ram, 1 TB, i7, and a ati 6770 2 GB DDR5 for graphics card. I install Battlefield 3 and everything great until I run it, if it's on fullscreen i cannot see the game, only if I change the window and It's seen right, but when I click the screen it gets back to fullscreen mode and cannot do anything, now I have it on a window but I want it on fullscreen mode!

I've already downloaded the latest ati drivers and actually got an update for everything including the bios to run opengl apps.

I'm pretty sure my graphics card is a good one.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Hope you can help me out :smileyhappy:

Re: Battlefield 3 Issue

I thought this was fixed by DICE as it was reported during BETA but cant believe this bug exists in retail version as well. I would say wait for a patch from EA and probably that should sort it out.

As of now, try this workaround

  1. Change screen resolution in windows to a lower resolution
  2. Launch the game and while you are playing in windowed mode, change screen resolution to maximum. If that does not make game play in full screen, try closing the game and restart to see if that helps.

Re: Battlefield 3 Issue

Sorry to hear that. :smileysad:

You can probably check on EA or DICE forums and check if anyone else (with a similar laptop) found any way to have this fixed.

Re: Battlefield 3 Issue

Go to ur BIOS options after restart, and choose FIXED graphics (you need updated BIOS drivers from HP for this).

This will make ur laptop use only the GPU, always while on external power.

Now if u run the game, it will run quite well in full screen.

BTW, do tell if u can run it on ultra settings without probs :smileywink:

Kudos to that! ;-)  :smileyhappy:

And mark that reply as a solution. Might help someone else sometime. \m/

Another thing.

When i tried running the game in Ultra Settings, my graphics driver used to crash. See if it's just the prob with me or a general one.

Not sure about it, but do check if updating the drivers makes any difference. HP recently released driver updates.

In cases NOTHING works. u could try deleting the basic settings and pofile.
Delete this folder.

~\Documents\Battlefield 3\settings

***I haven't tried this myself, so just make a backup, in case it still doesn't start.***
