Cheap Hp Laptop but best for gamming?

[ Edited ]

Hey guys, couple of days it's going to be my birthday and i was wondering what Hp laptop i would buy.. The Hp Envy 17 sounds pretty nice but it quite expensive and i heared it has over heating problems. I was wondering if you can suggest some cheap Hp laptop that runs smoothly while playing a game and can resist without any problems for a long time. It would be very helpful if you could give me some suggestions. I am a student looking for a good quality computer that I can do everything on.; Edit pictures and video, mixing music, streaming internet videos, watching blu-ray movies since it offers it, and playing some games like Minecraft, Starcraft and other simple games. Can you suggest any laptop capable of doing all of does?

Thanks guys :smileyhappy:

If you plan to game or do video editing stay away from HP, none of their video cards are up to the task and they will all run too hot.

NVIDIA GT 560 graphics card can handle most anything that's out there (for now). Notice how thick it is for improved air flow, if I remember correctly it has to cooling fans to get the job done.

Check out these others and you can also go to the Toshiba web site.

The GT 560 will even handle Battle Field 3.

Re: Cheap Hp Laptop but best for gaming?

Thank you so much for you comment, helps allot :smileyhappy:

Now i'm thinking of getting the Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7384 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop - Fusion X2 Finish in Red Horizon It looks like a decent price and i think it's a great laptop despite i'm using a Toshiba Laptop at the moment (but very bad at gamming) .

But... Problem is the laptop i'm going to chose will be on my sight for quite a long time :/ . I'm 13 years old soon to be 14 (6 nov) and i wouldn't want a laptop just for gamming further a doubt i need a laptop that is decent enough to use word documents, downloading, streaming videos online, and etc.

If you are going to buy the Toshiba, I would go with this ProStar. It's a little less expensive and I do believe you can upgrade the video card, contact Prostar directly and confirm this.

 http://www.pro-star.com/index.cfm?mainpage=productdetail&model=P170HM

99% of laptops have the video card soldered directly to the mother board and they are not future proof, when you get older and you do decide to get into some serious gaming the Prostar is upgradeable, the Toshiba isn't.

Like I said though, contact ProStar and confirm that this model has the capabilities to upgrade the video card, not all of their models can do this.

All new computers can stream videos and, process word documents, but if you buy one with a good video card, it will be future proof for a while.

Happy Birthday by the way !  :smileyhappy:

When you get your new machine, register the serial number with the police and look into some programs that if it's stolen, it can be traced. Talk to the police about this. A machine like that is very desirable to thieves.

Re: Cheap Hp Laptop but best for gaming?

Are the services good? That so if i have any problems or difficulties i would probably go to the store and ask for help but apperently here in Italy, Rome (place i live), I don't think they have the store. Or should i just go to the Pro Star website and sign in at their forum? But then it won't be reliable.. It's a hard choice though. Services are the numerous important option for me. That being said, wouldn't a Sony Vaio 6GB Ram Quad Core I7 be quite good? My friend told me it works perfectly. I'm no computer genious but what would you say about a 6GB Ram Quad Core i7.

And thanks :smileyvery-happy:!!

Re: Cheap Hp Laptop but best for gaming?

What is the model number of the Sony you're looking at or can you give me a link to it.

Any laptop with 4 gig's of RAM and and an i7 processor can do almost anything and the Sony will be fine. Mine has 8 GB and I barely put a dent in it, it's almost a waste of money. I can tell you more ounce I know which specific one it is. It would be a good idea to check out the forum at ProStar and see what problems there are. Keep in mind that all laptops innards are not made by the companies themselves. Take the hard drive for example, their made by Toshiba SeaGate, Samsung etc. and any of those can be in your Sony, ProStar, HP etc. Quality is  not an issue with any laptop, but it's design. A laptop that is too thins will have difficulty keeping itself cool, while a thicker will run cooler, it will be heavy and look little less sleek.

Italy _ WOW !! That's a long way away from here in Canada, where I live.
