So, conclusions: after reinstalling everything back, with new heat transfer paste, temperature dropped from 72 degrees Celsius to about 40-42 degrees, normal browsing. Noise is also down. And all because of dust clogging into the heatsink. Please HP, do not delete my pictures anymore!

Re: Hp HDX16 Overheating Issues

I've had to do a clean install twice. Am using another person's iPad to write this complaint because my very expensive HP HDX isn't working. Computer is only 3 years old! Trying to find a job while unemployed without a working computer is very hard. HP should be ashamed for not stepping up to the plate and helping us out!! HP is driving us away to a competitor. Short term thinking to save a buck by not helping us will lead to loss of sales long term.

same problem here, under normal use(browsing) with Belkin laptop cooler but it's still very hot. bought this last June 2009. during 1st year of use it goes out fine with normal games, MUonline, SSF IV but then suddenly shut down while playing SuperStreetFighter IV Arcade Edition. until now even after cleaning (disassemble all) and still problem is the same.

check the screenshot below: (HP please do not delete this post.)

NOTE: I upgraded the processor from P8400 2.26ghz to P8700 2.53ghz from my friend's HP DV4 series laptop. I also bought his laptop's charger for my HDX 16.

I will post some pics later some time after cleaning and putting some thermal paste on GPU heatsink.

I will not buy any HP laptop in the future. this is my first experience with HP and this will be my last.

I better recommend Asus gaming laptops! same price as this!
