I am trying to play Skyrim V, but the game crashes to desktop whenever I open an item or save - help

I am using the Envy 17-2195ca with intel i7 and switchable graphics cards (Intel's integrated hd3000, and amd/ATI HD 6850m), and the latest driver in from HP is 03/31/11 arghhhh - possibly the problem.

Is this a legitimate copy that you have purchased?  How did you install it (download or from disc)?

 

Are there any error messages appearing?  How often does it crash?  Have you already contacted Bethesda (game developer) for a resolution?  Have you updated the BIOS for your HP notebook?
