hp g62 overheating problem

 I am a soldier in KOSOVO for KFOR. I bought this laptop 3 moths ago. But it is always overheating. So I  bought a coolerpad (22 euro) but is stiil overheating and shutting down itself

I don't know what I can do

well, for overheating problems you need to update the BIOS of your computer. can you give me the P/N and S/N of your computer so that i can check it better? as of now please follow these steps:

1. Click this link www.hp.com

2. then type your P/N number on the search field and then hit enter.

3. select software and driver downloads.

4. select operating system.

5. look for BIOS, download and run it.

6. continue with insyde flash.

7. it will reboot. then you should be good to go.

8. observe the temp of the computer, and then tell me the results.

9. don't forget to hit on the white star for my kudos!

please post results. i will be online for 5 more hours. i'll track your post.

Don't even think to do what AfterCallWork said to you. I just advice, dont do that.. I personally have tryed it and spend another 3 hours trying to fix what BIOS update have caused! I solved all the problems, but beleave me you dont want to have them. For those of you who have already tried it, you can write to me and I'll explain you how to fix this back. AfterCallWork, no fence... I am only one of thousands having problem like this. Just DON't UPDATE THE BIOS (to the version sp51168)

I bought a fan but before I opened the box it came in I put my laptop on a little plastic coated thing that is meant to be used in cupboards to give an additional "shelf". Since the "shelf" is open wirework, the computer has far more air circulation than it had when I had it on a different base that was meant to aid in circulation. I'm really amazed at how cool my computer has been. And, this won't break. The fan I had before the one that's still in the box broke in just a few months.

I have also an G62 laptop, bios is uptodate with version F28 graphic drivers are version  873312000. After about 4 months after buying this laptop i noticed an raise in temp. Bought an compressed air can and blocked ventilator ( of cause with power of and battery removed) and cleaned vent, came lot of dust out. temp dropped about 9 gr. I have also the laptop in a open frame, so that the airflow isnt blocked. If you have to improvise  try some pices of wood under the laptop.

simple little thing taht hp asked me to do works for everyone else but me. well it works for awhile i cant atleast game for 3 hr instead fo just 10mins then it shuts down. 

disable ur wireless card and just plug in an ethernet cable. or just dont use it at all. it works for awhile. but hey 3 hrs over 10mins is still better right.

hp has yet to be able to fix my computer. its had 6 trips to their repair center now with nothing to show for it. bottom line HP is CRAP. sorry for ur loss. aswell as everyone else on these forums trying to get help and the ppl helping them. its sad. its the community that helps fix their problems not HP techs.

I also use my HP G62 Notebook for gaming and I am worried about it overheating.  I bought a dual fan from walmart the my notebook sits on.  So far this works, but is there a more efficient way to cool it???

Quick tip - www.kijiji.com and get rid of your laptop. Then go buy one that ISNT an HP. Keep in mind that HP started building computers in a one car garage and judging by their level of competance and quality of their computers.. THEY STILL DO. I've had 5 HP computers and 4 printers, ALL have failed. If they ever tell you to update your BIOS for any reason, DONT DO IT. Last time they told me to do that, it fried my BIOS entirely and I ended up with a beautiful $500 brick that they refuse to fix. Furthermore, if your BIOS does fry from updating it VIA HP, a little heads up -  HP wants you to BUY the new parts off them to fix what they broke.

yup..mine is also overheating,..and most important that the cooling fan has stop working. they are not showing any help.....whenever i start my notebook after 10 to 15 min the notebook gets shutdown due to extremly heat
