HP 15r237
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I lost the battery for my HP laptop and bought a replacement on the internet.  It works fine, but I noticed that the new battery is rated at 14.8v, whereas the charger is rated at 19.5v.  I don't know what voltage the original battery was.

I asked a friend who told me that usually the voltage of charger and battery should be the same, but that some laptops can have a higher voltage charger and only send the correct voltage to charge the battery.

Does anybody know if this is the case with my HP 15r237, or do I need to either buy a 14.8v charger or a 19.5v battery?

Hi,

Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04409502

Page 19 and 24 list the exact HP part number of 4 cell battery and 65W AC adapter you need

Higher voltage AC adapter will charge lower voltage battery faster.

Your laptop came with 19.5V AC adapter and 14.6V battery from factory.
