Thank you for details.

You mentioned
"Two SODIMM slots - non customer accessible / non-upgradeable"
Which says it's non-upgradeable and after that you also mentioned
"Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM".

The manual also states the same, so confused if the RAM can be upgraded or not.

@tgr123

It simply means if you do the disassembly and upgradation, break something in the process - this would void any warranty existing. You have to get help from certified HP service center.

It is upgradeable as previously suggested, but you need to take out the motherboard, flip it upside-down to reach memory bay.

Hi @svan00m,

Thanks for reaching out. A very good day to you. Smiley Happy  I understand that you require information about ram upgrades. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂

.

Spectacular troubleshooting, superb description and splendid analysis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.  You are a valued Hp customer and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. Smiley Happy

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

Did you check the product specifications and user guide of the computer?

I reviewed the post and checked that the notebook does support 16GB of RAM. Please check this out:

Two SODIMM slots - non customer accessible / non-upgradeable DDR3L-1600 Dual Channel Support Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭigurations ● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2) ● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1) ● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2) ● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) or (2048×2)(not for models with 7th generation processors)

The user guide link is http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04763031 please visit page 2 in this regard and please check page# 42 for the related part numbers of the memory card.

8-GB (DDR3L-1600) 693374-005 4-GB (DDR3L-1600) 691740-005

Please note only these RAM modules are supported and please contact HP phone support or HP part store in this regard.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

Otherwise, please visit HP part store via  http://partsurfer.hp.com

Then select the country and follow the on-screen instructions. There usually is a phone number listed for you to contact them.

With these part numbers, you could also try contacting a local Best Buy or Staples technician as well.

But make sure to install only these RAM modules with the mentioned part numbers, as nothing else may be compatible. It is very important that you contact a local technician so that everything is a smooth sail and the installed RAM chips work like a charm without compatibility issues.

Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Smiley Happy  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. Smiley Happy

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
