Happy to hear some people are getting their laptops fixed.

A bit confused about the remark that the problem was "finally" recognized by HP from this forum. I went back and read some of the most currect messages and I did not get to the one that showed HP recognized the hinge problem.

I would like to see HP fully recognize the hinge problem and repair every laptop without cost.

Hi Mike, I have spent countless hours scouring a shockingly high number of threads regarding this issue. I have the exact same "left hinge" problem, which does indeed seem to be a design flaw, 100%. I did call about this issue last year, and received the same "shut-down" as most, that I was out of warranty and it would cost at least $130 to send in for repair, "could be more" depending on what they find. At least with me they did "start" at the $130 LOL. But more recently the casing seems to have endured even further stress, and has now caused screeching sounds and possible damage to the fan, per an error message about fan not functioning properly. I have also found multiple posts and threads regarding this seemingly eminent issue as well -- as a result of the broken hinge/case separation design flaw . And now, the computer will not even turn on at all. It tries, and shuts down before it succeeds, within seconds. This is so frustrating! My husband and I have previously used and liked Dell PCs with no issues. When it was time for a new laptop, and since we had heard some good things about HP - we went with HP, for PC AND printer -- and we've had nothing but problems with HP PC AND PRINTER. This laptop cost $1000, and if I have to continue to shell out the cost of incessant hinge repairs, we should just take financial plunge on a Mac. Probably should've done so to begin with and avoided all this mess. I appreciate your effort's and "making noise"! Say a little prayer and cross your fingers that I will have similar success in the (NOT the FIRST) call I'm about to place to HP Support!
