Elitebook 2540p

Hi all,

i wish to upgrade the RAM in my Elitebook 2540p to 8GB or (if possible) to 16GB.

This is the information in HP website (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02206692😞

Standard: DDR3 PC3-10600 SDRAM (1333 MHz)* Two SODIMM slots supporting dual-channel memory 1024MB, 2048MB and 4096MB SODIMMs.
Maximum Upgradeable to 8192MB with 4096MB SODIMMs in slots 1 and 2.
Dual-channel Maximized dual-channel performance requires SODIMMs of the same size and speed in both memory channels.

I conclude that to upgrade to 8GB i should use 2 4GB SO-DIMMs (1333 MHz). Is this correct?

Additionaly: is it possible, in reality, to upgrade to 16GB?

Thanks!

You are correct that 8GB is your max.

You are limited by the CPU's memory bus.

Looks like the CPU's for your model can only take 8GB.

Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type)8 GB
Memory TypesDDR3 800/1066

No, you can't upgrade to 16Gb! The 4Gb you have now is in two 2Gb modules, one of which is under the keyboard which has to be removed to change the module. You need two 4Gb 1333 MHz modules,
