Hi... I have got one technical question. I have got HP Elitebook 8530w and I would like to change my quadro fx 770m graphics card by quadro FX 2700m. Is that possible? I think both cards have the same slot...

Hi,
Please check the following links:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_quadro_fx_770_m_us.html
http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_quadro_fx_2700_m_us.html
Just for heat alone, the 2700m pumps out 65w and the 770m only pumps out 35w. You can see where the problem is. You need new PSU, you need new cooling system ....
HP workstation class machines are the ones we can replace GPU but you need to consider heat.
Hope this helps.

I am in the same situation that I want to upgrade my 770M on my HP Elitebook 8530w. So you can confirm that the MXM 2.1 cards can be upgraded? Can you upgrade a laptop with an Nvidia Quadro 770M to an AMD or Nvidia GPU as long as the thermal limit doesn’t exceed 35 Watts? I want to replace it with an AMD Radeon HD 7850M.
The main reason I want to upgrade the GPU is because the 770M doesn’t have a low power mode. My laptop makes a lot of noise even when idle, while the rest of my laptop (T9600 2,8 GHz CPU) works a fast as a charm.
Thanks in advance

What about the Nvidia FX 880m? It is 35w and 1gb DDR3, fairly similar to the 770m with some extra ram. Secondly is there a list of compatible cards and/or a list of successful GPU Upgrades for this machine?
Also, has anyone tried upgrading from the T9600 to a Core 2 Quad like the 95XX or 96XX series? They have the same PC Socet; the Q9000 and Q9100 only reqire 45w compared to the T9600 35w, but each core has a lower speed compared to the T9600.

I thought I would specify I am refering to Nvidia Quadro FX 880m that came ou in the laptops just after the 8X30w models and not the GTX880m that is found in current laptops. I basically looked up all the PCI-e QuadroFX cards and picked the best one at 35w.
