I have had this laptop since around August last year and thus far it has performed normally with no issues. However, this morning the laptop became unusable as it would freeze whenever I tried to open anything after booting up. Since I couldn't activate McAfee security, which I do have but have had deactivated for around a month or so since it slowed down games somewhat and I rarely use any unsafe websites, I activated system diagnostics and quickly an error was found with the Hard Drive DST, with the error code UCWFXL-7M7834-MFPWL1-60VM03. I'm not entirely sure what this issue means, but I clearly need to resolve it to be able to make use of the laptop again. Since it's a hard drive issue, does this mean the hard drive needs to be replaced? Don't suppose anyone could tell me what steps need to be taken now? Here's the system stuff, in case that's necessary;
Model- HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC
System ID- 2268
Product ID- L0E35EA#ABU
Born on Date - 06/16/2015
Processor Type- AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics

[Personal information removed]
Keyboard Controller Revision- 73.35

Hi,
The 24 character error code does confirm a failure of the short Disk Self Test failure and would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced. This is also consistent with the issues you describe.
As your notebook is less than a year old, it should still under warranty, so contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - If needed, you can check your warranty status Here.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you live in the UK, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
