What about the msata ssd does it also require an extra sata port ??

A MSATA SSD has its own M.2 slot and doesn't depend on a SATA III port.

 

See chapter 6, page 65 of the service manual I posted.

 

I don't know anything about how those work, so that would be the only question I can answer regarding that type of SSD.
