Pavilion 15-p142na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I'm trying to replace the keyboard on this model and have followed the HP Pavilion 15 maintenance and service guide.

It explains how to take the top cover off (disconnecting the power/keyboard/touchpad cables) but the keyboard is locked in to a metal panel and doesn't look like it was designed to be taken off 😞

Do I need a specialised tool or something?

Many thanks

Hope you're aware that this is not the official HP technical support.

HP maintains no official presence here.

The only suggestion I could offer you is to get the exact part number as given in the manual - Page 74-77:

Both are essentially following the exact same procedure. So the links I posted for Pavilion 15 p000 notebook series above, will apply for your Pavilion 15 p100 series notebook.

The laptop serial is: 5CD4423BZM I'm not sure about the keyboard number but it's correct for the laptop model.

Also, I've already read the service and maintenance guides everyone has posted - they all show how to take the top cover off but not how to change the keyboard embedded inside. Is the only way to replace the entire top cover of the laptop?

Thanks

Please see my first post.

Top cover and keyboard is spared together as a single part.

Really?

Wow, I'm confused why people are selling the keyboards as individual units?

I'm guessing my best bet is to find a replacement top cover for my model

Thanks
