I am going to a fiber network with 1GB capability. I currently have a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controler and would like to find out if I can go to a GBE card and is it replaceable? The hardware lds is as follows if it helps- PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_2293103C&REV_08

Hi:
The ethernet chip is part of the motherboard, and cannot be upgraded or replaced.
If you want to upgrade to a gigabit ethernet adapter, I suggest you purchase an external USB to RJ-45 10/100/1000 ethernet adapter.

Hi,
Many new laptops now don't have RJ-45 card. I actually own and use the following adapter, bought from Amazon USA
