Can't seem to find the specs for this firewire chipset. Am having a conflict with a Yamaha musical instrument. Need to compare to list of known issues from Yamaha.
Thanks,
Brad

And, of course, my post just above is correct. The chipset for the Iee 1394 controller is written on the chip. In my case, it was a VIA 6308s. Which is now compatible with my instrument after running a utility provided (almost hidden, in a separate folder) in the Yamaha Firewire Download package. The YFWS Utility allowed me to reset the driver from a small (default) buffer to a medium (in my case) or large, if needed, to adjust my system requirements to match my FW16E card in my instrument. Works like a charm now with now glitches and dropouts.
Hope this helps someone.

It was a "request" from that other person, because it is NOT "normal" to post the serial-number of YOUR specific hardware onto this forum.
Do a Google-search for 'download free SPECCY'.
Download and install SPECCY, and run it.
It will display _much_ details about the hardware on your specific computer -- hopefully the "FireWire" information.
Or, open the Windows "Device Manager", and double-click on your FireWire device.
Switch to the 'Details' tab, and scroll-through all the available "details" for your device.

Neither Speccy or system properties (just showed: 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller) have helped. Already tried different drivers .......if I look AT the motherboard (take the time to open case) will the chipset have identifying marks?
Oh well, anyway, thanks for the help.
