Whats the max amount of ram I can use, also is their any cpu upgrade for this?

If the installed  Cu is a 2.8GHz/1.9GHz AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M Accelerated Processor then that is about the most powerful CPU available for your notebook.

The maximum memory is 16GB.

Here is a link to the Maintenence & service guide for your notebook.

The Core 2 Duo T7200  is compatible with your notebook's systemboard. If you have to ask how to do it, then perhaps you should pay a shop to do it for you. Upgrading a CPU in a notebook is not a task for a beginner or non technical person. It comes under the upgrade task level of advanced level as almost complete disassembly of the notebook is required. If you really want to take the risk of doing it yourself then take a look at the inside my laptop website. Look for disassembly instructions for the V3000 series notebook.

Hi Erico,

Lennon's problem

I also have a Compaq Presario CQ60 and I have the same problem as Lennon but there is a tiny difference between our laptops and i'm not sure if the Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9400 (6M Cache, 2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

,that you said it compatible, it's also compatible with my laptop and i can upgrade to it

My notebook is HP Pavilion DV7-2130er, this one

BIOS version is F.46

Operating system is Win8 x64

I'd like to upgrade its hard disk drive and WLAN module.

In the service manual for HP Pavilion DV7-2000 series we can see that combinations from 2x250GB  to 2x500-GB HDDs are availiable. But maybe the combination of 120GB SSD and 1000GB HDD will work too? If it is impossible, could you write me the best working alternative, please? What about, for instance, 120GB SSD and 500GB HDD?

Guys from HP technical support said that onlly one HDD (not SSD) or two similar HDDs could be installed. Otherwise one of the drives can not to be recognized by the operating system , they said. But here I've found the HP Expet's advice to upgrade HP Pavilion dv7-2012tx (DV7-2000 series, such as mine!) by installing one 128GB SSD as a system drive and one 500GB HDD as a data storage (second drive). And some topics (for instance, 12, 3, 4, 5) contain such advices, and the topicstarters didn't write about any troubles with their upgrades. So where's the truth? Should I try such combination too?

And I'm also going to replace WiFi module. I know about the problem of "white list" of compatible models. The service manual contains 4 WLAN models for DV7-2000 series:

- Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g

- Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g/n

- Broadcom 4322 802.11a/b/g/n

- Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g

So can I replace my Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g with Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g/n or with any other Wi-Fi "N" modules?

Thanks a lot.

P.S. Sorry for my English

I want to unlock my Pavilion G6-2342dx laptop's BIOS to do some overclocking. I have no matter with the warranty being void.
Is there any way to unlock the BIOS, because right now I only have options to change date and time.

I wanted to upgrade the processor and I wanted to know the options that I have, since I cannot find the info in one place that can show me that.

Another question that have been buggin me is that the product specs on the website says that I might be able to put up to 8GB ram (even though I'm happy with one I have) but with the 4GB that I have I'm not using in plenty of it (as written, I have x64 system). On my SysInfo it says that:

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 4,00GB

Total Physical Memory                 3,75GB

Available Physical Memory           2,21GB

And my question is, if I update the bios (probably I might have to do it since I want to upgrade the CPU) it will fix the issue with the memories that I have installed.

Kind regards

Mawgre
