I have a HP ProBook 6560b, which has a DisplayPort output. Can i use this to connect it to my HDMI TV set and transmit BOTH video and audio through the cable?

Yes it should transmit audio over displayport, but the TV must also support audio over displayport.

Once the notebook is conected and showing video on the TV, go into sound properties on the notebook and see if displayport shows as an audio playback device, if it does, select that device for output.

I cannot find a support article for displayport , but here is one for HDMI, which is similar.

Hi, thanks for the reply. In sound properties menu-Playback the AMD HDMI output shows " not plugged in". The realy reason was the interface cable(rolline). I try with other one(HAMA), there was no problem.

Thanks

Hi,

I have the same problem with my new 6560b laptop. I had a 6540b laptop before and it worked with HDMI audio and video on one cable (with displayport adapter to hdmi) to my TV. I have changed nothing of these cables, just the laptop has changed and now my audio settings says: 'not connected' and I don't get the sound on the TV (video is good).

What can I do about this? Please help.
