hi there,

I just bought a new laptop HP ENVY 17-J100sb.

I would like to upgrade my laptop from 8 GB (2slots with 4 GB ram 1600MHz DDR3L) to 16 GB ram

is this possible? and what is important to look for when buying this new hardware?

thanks

Dirk.

Yes possible. Just be sure to get DDR3L (low voltage-1.35v) PC3-12800 also known as DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM memory like this:

you post a link for a MAC RAM, does mean I could  install any mac ram to my envy, doesn't it ???????  will it work?

Memory is memory. Macs use the same kind of RAM and other hardware as PCs. So the important thing is the specs of the memory.
