A pair of 4 gig DDR2 laptop modules is very expensive, I thought. You did not ask me whether the laptop can take 8 gigs total. There are 2 slots and I am not sure if the max is 4 gigs or 8 gigs but you seem to know what you are doing.

Whoa hold the boat. Here is the Manual:
It says you have DDR3 memory not DDR2. But then again, your Celeron processor is not listed. Have you inspected the actual installed memory to be sure it is DDR2? I mean if DDR2 is in there it cannot use DDR3.
Specs say DDR2:
Processor is T3300 which is compatible with the GL40 or PM45 chipset more commonly paired with DDR2 memory. I am almost certain it maxes at 4 gigs.
