Product: HP Envy m7-k211dx, Prd#J9K05UA
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I'm finding conflicting information with google searches. Trying to find out what options are available for upgrading this laptop from a normal hard drive to an SSD. I'm not sure if there is a m.2 slot or not, or if it would be the best choice.
Anyone know? Thanks!
Edward

Hi Edward,
Specs: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04556394
Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04582332
Page 2, 62-63: replace HDD with 2.5 inch 7mm SATA SSD
Page 67-68: it has M.2 SATA slot (2280) with "M" & "B" keys. But your laptop came with 12gb RAM. Manual says M.2 SATA support is configured for upto 8gb system memory.
The HDD to SSD upgrade needs major disassembly. If you're within warranty or have not performed something like this, please get help from certified HP technicians or good local technicians.
Use recovery media you should've created after first setup of this laptop, to factory reset OS after replacement. You've to buy at least 256gb SSD for recovery media to work.
You could also do clean install Windows 10 using Windows media creation tool, if you've upgraded and successfully activated Windows 10 previously.
