Hello all,
I have a HP ProBook 6440b and wanted to browse HP site for specs documentation. I found two documents about the model - one of them is an overview and other is a pdf manual. I realized the RAM specs on these two documents differ.
According to
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01987730
HP ProBook 6440b supports DDR3 PC3-10600 SDRAM (1333 MHz)
whereas according to
it supports DDR2 PC2-6400 configurations at 800-MHz
Why is this discrepency?

Hi:
This is a peer to peer forum. HP maintains no official presence here.
The info in the service manual is incorrect.
All models listed in the service manual use DDR3 memory--Either PC3-8500 or PC3-10600 (which is backward compatible to PC3-8500).
If you want to bring this matter to the attention of HP, you may do so at the link below.

HP used to have a quickspecs link for all of their business notebooks but I can only find one for the 6440b that was uploaded to a 3rd party website.
This document will have very detailed info on the 6440b and as you can see when you click on the pages, DDR3 memory is what they have. See page 5.
