Pavilion 15-p253nu
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have HP Pavilion 15-p253nu. I already made some upgrades - changed wifi chip, added one more wifi internal antenna and replaced HDD with SSD.

But now I want to replace the screen with Full HD screen with IPS.

I found this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-LTN156HL01-102-PLS-LCD-Screen-Replacement-for-Laptop-New-LED-Full-HD...

But there is written:

Please, make sure you have the same screen resolution, or replacement will not work. HD screen (1366x768) uses one channel video cable, while HD+ (1600x900) and Full HD (1920x1080) use 2-channels video cable, thus they are not compatible. You can upgrade screen resolution by switching video cable to Full HD only! Please, refer to manufacturer to find compatible video cables for HD+ and FullHD resolutions.

My question is: Do I need some cable for the new screen and what cable, or I just can replace only the screen?

Best regards,

Ivo Petrov

There actually was a full HD option on this model series. See p. 31 item 6:

Service manual

Display panel full HD cable for non-Touchscreen models (includes webcamera/ microphone module cable and screws) for HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC computer models 762544-001

Amazon.com at a highway robbery price:

http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Display-Touch-screen-762544-001/dp/B00SB0QJZ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=145...

Also available direct from HP but I did not look up the price:

Hi,

You definitely need a new cable but this series doesn't support full HD resolution. If you can find a similar cable for a full HD laptop it might work. Sometimes youtube videos have details about the cables. There are plenty of cables on alibaba for HP laptops but not under the right HP spare part numbers.

@Huffer,

You are a magician! The price for me doesn't matter, because I have not much options for upgrade for this laptop and I want to make everything at the max. The CPU is soldered, so I cannot upgrade it, so I will spend some money to make this awful screen much better. But you gave me hope, after the post of @pepe999...

Many, many thanks!

Best regards,

Ivo Petrov

P.S. I go now to find the best IPS matrix for me! 🙂

Make absolutely sure it uses the same connection as the HP Full HD screen
